The news is out, “There is no future!”. This is not a message of despair; it is simply a statement of truth. Speak to any guru, who’s worth their mantra so to speak, and he or she will tell you the same. Save not, therefore, your best for the future. Do not WAIT to give your best to the next job, the next relationship, the next person you meet, the next time you are afraid. Give your best NOW!
The good news is, “The present is here, now”, and the present moment is the perfect moment to give your best. Often we refer to roots and connections of words from ancient languages like Sanskrit, Aramaic and Latin for instance, to give us help and guidance. Well, closer to home, it is helpful to note that in the English language, the word “present” has three distinct meanings: “here, “now” and “a gift”.
It is true to say the greatest gifts are always and only available to us here and now. There is no power in the future, for the future is not here and now. The greatest key for unlocking the “here and now” involves another word linked to “present” and that word is, “presence”, or, “being.” The truth is, when it comes to the “here and now” you can be what you want. The principle of being is explained thus,
If you would want love, be loving.
If you would want care, be caring.
You can be what you want.
If you would want joy, be joyful.
If you would want peace, be peaceful.
You can be what you want.
If you would want happiness, be happy.
If you would want kindness, be kindly.
You can be what you want.
If you would want forgiveness, be forgiving.
If you would want acceptance, be accepting.
You can be want you want.
To help you be what you most want, it is good to surround yourself with in-spiration that literally lets the spirit into your thinking. For me, “Caduceus” offers such inspiration. For three years I was assistant editor to Sarida at Caduceus. This was an honour. Today, there is an issue of “Caduceus” in every room of our house, including the loo! Here’s to the NOW!
